I am a bilingual, first-generation Egyptian-American. I am a 19-year-old, 4th year student, studying economics, mathematics, and statistics at the University of California at Berkeley. Due to the aforementioned academic pursuits, coupled with poor time-management skills, I drink coffee frequently. Otherwise, I am often recognized by my pronounced interest in fine fragrances (cologne), my nappy, frizzy hair and my Ray-Ban opthalmic eye-ware—commonly mistaken as a fashion statement rather than corrective lenses to remedy my myopic vision.

A good friend of mine once told me that I am a class clown. Another has told me that I am deeply sober. I prefer the latter title as I tend to worry that I am being laughed at, rather than laughed with, when I attempt to entertain those around me with humor. My closest friends also know that I am more a victim to rather than a beneficiary of my photographic memory—a quality that makes it difficult for me to forget anything I have seen or even simply pictured when I close my eyes. Despite this, I advocate for and participate in the activity of thinking knowing that its results are usually not tangible.

When it comes to my artistry, I am a trichotomy; a vessel of three alter-egos:

When I create music, I am simply Mustafa M. Eisa. Mustafa is a guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, vocalist, and woman-lover. Mustafa authors, composes, arranges, engineers, records, mixes, and masters his own music. Mustafa has coffee with hip hop on the weekends, spends long nights in library in the company of trance, and—secretly—is sheepishly and helplessly infatuated with bossa nova. (Keep it on a hush.)

When I create photos, I am M.Eisa Photography. M.Eisa Photography is a freelance photography entity that offers personal, commercial, event, and concept photography services. M.Eisa Photography specializes in sharp, high-contrast photos of people (like the one above), with a particular focus on portraits. For, it is in the contours of the subject’s countenance that a thousand stories are told. And this, indeed, is the M.Eisa Photography philosophy—to tell stories.

When I create videos, I am “Mustafa M. Eisa presents.” “Mustafa M. Eisa presents” is a director, cameraman, editor, and actor; a cinematographer of sorts. “Mustafa M. Eisa presents” specializes in producing music videos, interviews, and promotional short-films for both clients and fellow alter-egos. Alone, “Mustafa M. Eisa presents” tends to feel fragmented and displaced. But, with the help and in the company of Mustafa and M.Eisa Photography, the shaky-handed, young, and inspired “Mustafa M. Eisa presents” feels like the missing puzzle piece to the Mustafa M. Eisa picture.

These are the services I offer. These are the hobbies I enjoy. And this website is the hub where all things Mustafa come to dance and play in a colorful, musical frenzy.
